The Inside Track: Michael Compton - 'Shapes'

from Michael Compton

I dedicate this release to my late father, who passed 10 years ago. This song came to me during a time of healing when I really needed it and tells a story about my own personal journey through grief. It's not a sad song, it's a celebration of how love guides us through our many shapes of being.
’Shapes’ is a groove-oriented song that manifested very quickly. Sometimes as a writer you get on a wavelength and ride it. I love these moments but they don’t happen often. I like how this song moves and I think it might have the most universal appeal and message out of all the songs on the album.
The song was produced by Steve Fisk, and features incredible performances by Steve (keys),Yuuki Matthews (bass) and Michael Musburger (drums, percussion).
